Bookkeeping, wedding flowers and cosy nights.

Saturday: Ooops I forgot all week to write anything, I have had a busy week and so that is partly the reason not just bad memory 😂

I had flowers to do for a local residential home on Monday and then flowers for a small wedding on Tuesday and also I had Oscar so I had to be on the ball with those.

The wedding flowers consisted of a small bridal posy and button holes and then jam jar flowers for the tables but they were not needed until today.

Red flowers for remembrance at a local residential home.

Wednesday and Thursday I spent the whole of both days doing paperwork and getting it all up together to go to the accountant. Normally it would be a lot easier to sort and collate but because I couldn’t do any writing with my right hand for months and because my eyes were not the best for months I had to leave it all and the result was two days of sorting out 😂 It doesn’t help that with Johns paperwork some of the suppliers have bloody awful systems and a job to match up invoices to statements 🤪 I was very happy to get it finished by Thursday tea time which meant I am free to concentrate on everything else.

Friday: I cut lots of flowers for the jam jars tomorrow and some other orders plus did a fair bit of tidying, sorting and washing buckets in the flower room.

Saturday: Today I had to help John get the flue in place for the wood burner. We decided to put in a small one because a) we have a lot of wood that might as well be used to help keep the electric bill down and b) if we have a power cut we will at least have some heat. We will only be using this in the evenings, it’s not like the Rayburn which we had to keep going all winter long, that was time consuming and difficult if we wanted to go out for any more than a few hours.

Once that was done I got on with making up the jam jar flowers while John carried on with sorting out the roof plate etc. Once the flowers were done we delivered them to the venue and then once back I sorted out some dried flowers for the tables at our local pub.

I love doing jam jars for occasions they always look great en masse 🥰 I have also enjoyed doing the wedding flowers, in November you never quite know what you will have available but I had plenty that I could use so it wasn’t an issue.

Dried flowers for the tables at our local pub. Through spring and summer they have fresh but once the fires are lit it is too hot and so dried flowers fill the gap.

Sunday: Cut some flowers for an order then deliver dried flowers to the pub before popping off to get some shopping and pick up some fire cement form Shelley on the way home.

I have lots of eggs at the minute so I am planning another batch bake, fruit cake this time plus the Christmas cake, that one will be well laced with brandy over the next few weeks.

I love this time of year for cooking and baking, let’s face it nobody really wants to cook through the warmer months but once the temperature drops comfort food is on the menu 😊 There will be plenty of hearty soups and stews also cakes and puddings, maybe even pies if I feel inclined. I always endeavoured to use items up and leave little waste and so I never get the same flavour twice 🤪

We had a roast dinner at Charlie and Maccas which was lovely then home to put the birds to bed, make up some flowers for tomorrow morning delivery and then light the fire 🥰 Storm Debbie is coming in so the timing is perfect for cosy evenings.

I have a couple of quiet weeks ahead which is great because the beginning of December will be quite manic 🤪
